Joyce Lee began formal music studies on piano at age four and violin at age twelve. She is an alumna and scholarship recipient of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), where she received both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance. She is an avid chamber musician and enjoys collaborating with other musicians on stage, at public venues, fundraisers, house concerts, and at events such as weddings, luncheons and art exhibits. Most recently, Joyce formed a violin-cello duo, transcribing and arranging a variety of compositions in addition to performing the well-established duo repertoire.
Beginning in 2008, Joyce has been concertizing around the United States with Bella Sorella, www.bellasorella.net, a soprano duo-piano-violin ensemble and featured soloists with the Redwood Symphony in July 2011. Joyce has also traveled to Europe on tour with the SF Youth Orchestra, to New Orleans to play with the Louisiana Philharmonic, to Las Vegas to play as Concertmaster of the summer festival orchestra and to Indianapolis to play in a workshop with William Preucil.
Locally, she performs regularly with the Vallejo Symphony as Associate Concertmaster, and with the Marin, Symphony Silicon Valley, Santa Rosa, Stockton and Napa Symphonies. She has played Principal 2nd with the SF Lyric Opera, soloed with the Nova Vista Symphony and has served as the orchestra’s Concertmaster. Joyce is honored to be invited to work with Music Director Julie Ford and composer/arranger Greg Murai, performing frequently at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church.
In addition to teaching violin, piano and viola privately, coaching cellists, and accompanying students and colleagues, she trains young musicians at Summer Music West– a chamber music program at SFCM, and leads violin classes at AP Giannini Middle School in SF.

Here is a review of a Bella Sorella performance given in Florence, Oregon.
I had the fortunate opportunity to join the Beautiful Mind Ensemble in recording the sound track to the Korean TV Drama Life is Beautiful, which began airing March 13, 2010. The members of BME are all so kind and gracious and it was a real pleasure to be included in this project!
