Joyce Lee began formal music studies on piano at age four and violin at age twelve. She is an alumna of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), where she received both her B.M and M.M. in Violin Performance. She is an avid chamber musician and enjoys collaborating with other musicians, along with performing and recording contemporary composers’ new works. Currently, Joyce is appearing in performances around the country with Bella Sorella, www.bellasorella.net, a soprano duo/piano/violin ensemble, whose repertoire includes everything from classic opera arias to American/Spanish/Italian favorites to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and more. Joyce has also traveled to Europe on tour with the SF Youth Orchestra, to New Orleans to play with the Louisiana Philharmonic, to Las Vegas to play as concertmaster of the summer festival orchestra and to Indianapolis to play in a workshop with William Preucil. Locally, she performs regularly with the Vallejo Symphony as assistant concertmaster, and with the Marin, Santa Rosa, Stockton, Napa and Symphony Silicon Valley Symphonies. She has soloed with the Nova Vista Symphony and often joins the orchestra as concertmaster. In addition to teaching both violin and piano privately as well as accompanying students and colleagues, she coaches young musicians at Summer Music West, a chamber music program at SFCM.
